Passions
(Monica Matthews)
Monica Matthews/Jim Arrendell
Straight up angry with God for giving us passions that we are told not to act upon unless in the context of marriage. It wouldn't be until 4 years after writing this song and significant maturing, that I would realize that God is very passionate and anything I am told to wait upon is only for my good, not as punishment or to have me lead a boring life, but so that I may truly live and experience life at it's truest passionate level with Him first and with man second. Purity is a virtue, Passions are pure when surrendered to a God that is a God of order not chaos.
Take me as I am, I hate to disappoint you, help me understand your mystery. Take me by the hand and lead me to your truths, help me understand your mysteries, I am blinded by my passions, I'm living deep within my flesh, this fire's always burning, won't you save me from myself? You made me as I am, desires flood my soul, but I hate me as I am as guilt consumes my passions. So meet me where I stand and fill me with your love and I will let you in to my desires.
